About the Krejcik Gambit

The Krejcik Gambit, 3. Bxf7+, gives up the bishop to draw Black's king forward, and 3...Kxf7 is the only legal reply. White then wins back the piece with queen checks, 4. Qh5+ Kg8 5. Qd5+ e6 6. Qxe4. This restores material equality but leaves Black with the bishop pair and the freer development. Engines assess the position as slightly better for Black, though results in online games are close to even.
