A rare gambit in the Alekhine Defense's Scandinavian Variation in which White leaves the e4-pawn en prise and develops with 4. Bg5 to pressure f6.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Myers Gambit
The Myers Gambit arises when White answers 3. d3 dxe4 by declining to recapture and playing 4. Bg5, giving up a pawn to develop quickly and put pressure on the f6-knight. Engines give Black a slight edge and favor 4...h6, 4...Nd5 or 4...exd3. Taking a second pawn with 4...exd3 is the most common reply, yet White scores well against it in online play. The developing moves 4...Bf5 and 4...Bg4 have brought Black better results.
