A sharp, dubious extension of the Paris Gambit in the Amar Opening, in which White castles and gives a second pawn to open the kingside files.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Gent Gambit
The Gent Gambit extends the Paris Gambit. Instead of recapturing on f4, White castles with 5. O-O and allows 5...fxg3 6. hxg3, leaving Black a pawn ahead. In return the f- and h-files open and the castled rook bears down on f7, though White's king is sheltered mainly by an isolated g-pawn. It is the only named branch of the Paris Gambit and was first played by Tartakower against Andor Lilienthal in Paris in 1933.
