About the Yugoslav

In the Yugoslav, White builds a broad center with 6. Nc3 d6 7. e4 and allows the light-squared bishops to come off on f1. After 7...Bxf1, by far the most common reply, only the king can recapture, so White forfeits castling, while Black seeks compensation on the open a- and b-files. Practical results are level, though engines give White a slight edge. The rarer 7...Nbd7 fares poorly for Black.
