A rare countergambit in the Benko Gambit in which White answers 3...b5 with 4. g4, offering the g-pawn to chase Black's king's knight from the center.

About the Mutkin Countergambit

The Mutkin Countergambit meets Black's queenside gambit with one of White's own on the kingside: 4. g4 offers the g-pawn instead of taking on b5. If the knight captures it, White plays e4 and gains central control while the knight sits on an awkward square. If Black ignores the offer, the pawn advances to g5 and drives the knight away from the center anyway. The line is an offbeat surprise rather than an established reply.
