Train it in TheoriaAbout the Averbakh-Grivas Attack
The Averbakh-Grivas Attack is White's 8. Bg5 in the Classical Benoni. The bishop pins the f6-knight before White commits the f1-bishop, unlike the quieter 8. Be2 or the prophylactic 8. h3. Black usually castles with 8...O-O. Of the alternatives, 8...h6 questions the bishop at once and 8...Bg4 aims to exchange the light-squared bishop for the f3-knight. Engines rate the position as roughly balanced, and Black scores somewhat better in Lichess games.
