A rarely explored branch of From's Gambit in which Black answers 2. fxe5 with 2...f6, offering more play against White's loosened kingside.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Lasker Gambit
The Lasker Gambit, 1. f4 e5 2. fxe5 f6, is a little-explored branch of From's Gambit. Instead of the usual 2...d6, Black attacks the e5-pawn with the f-pawn, trying to open lines against White's weakened kingside rather than winning the material back immediately. White most often captures with 3. exf6, and 3. Nf3 is the main alternative. The engine gives White a slight edge, and White also scores somewhat better in practice.
