Train it in TheoriaAbout the Thomas Gambit
The Thomas Gambit is a Dutch Variation line of the Bird Opening in which White adopts the dark-square plan of b3, Bb2 and Nf3, aimed at e5 and the long diagonal. Black answers with ...d4 and ...c5 to gain space and blunt the b2 bishop, and 5. e3 challenges the advanced d-pawn at once. With this pawn chain, White's queen's knight often has no natural square, and a4 followed by Na3 is one way to develop it.
