A rarely played romantic gambit in the Bishop's Opening in which Black sacrifices the b-pawn with 2...b5 and harasses the bishop with 3...c6.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Anderssen Gambit
The Anderssen Gambit offers the b-pawn with 2...b5, a reversed Evans Gambit idea favored by Adolf Anderssen. After 3. Bxb5, Black gains a tempo with 3...c6. The other try, 3...f5, is the Thorold Gambit. White usually retreats with 4. Bc4, less often with 4. Ba4 or 4. Be2, and keeps the extra pawn. The compensation is unclear, the engine gives White a clear advantage, and White scores well in practice.
