A rare Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Accepted defense in which Black answers 5. Nxf3 with 5...c5, challenging White's d4 pawn at once.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Kaulich Defense
The Kaulich Defense is Black's reply 5...c5 in the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Accepted. Instead of completing development, Black immediately challenges the d4 pawn, which supports White's compensation for the gambit pawn. It is one of the less common defenses. White most often answers 6. d5, gaining space, and scores well with it. 6. Bb5+ is also seen, while 6. Bc4 has fared badly for White. The engine prefers 6. dxc5 and rates the position as roughly balanced.
