Train it in TheoriaAbout the Spielmann Variation
The Spielmann Variation arises from the Duz-Khotimirsky line (5. Bg5) of the Blumenfeld Countergambit after 5...exd5 6. cxd5 h6. Black puts the question to the pinning bishop at once instead of playing 6...d6. White usually gives it up with 7. Bxf6 Qxf6, which leaves Black with the bishop pair, and follows with 8. Qc2. Material is level, White keeps a pawn on d5, and the c- and e-files are half-open.
