Train it in TheoriaAbout the Edinburgh Variation
The Edinburgh Variation is a minor sideline of the 3. Nd2 Caro-Kann in which Black skips the usual 3...dxe4 and brings the queen to b6, where it immediately attacks the d4-pawn, which the knight on d2 no longer protects. 4. c3 is the main reply, supporting d4 with a b2-c3-d4 chain, while 4. Ngf3 defends it by developing; the two are played about equally often. Engines give White a slight edge.
