Train it in TheoriaAbout the Spassky Gambit
The Spassky Gambit arises after 7...c6 8. b3 b6 9. Rd1 Bb7 10. Nc3 b5. Instead of waiting behind the d5 strong point, Black uses the c6-pawn as support and challenges White's c4-pawn directly. The thrust offers the b-pawn, since after an exchange on b5 the knight on c3 can capture. Black seeks queenside activity and more scope for the b7-bishop in return.
