Train it in TheoriaAbout the Chigorin Variation
With 4...c6, Black keeps the gambit pawn on e4 and takes control of the d5-square, which limits White's options in the center. The most common reply is 5. Bxf6, which gives up the bishop to damage Black's pawn structure. The other main reply, 5. f3, reopens lines and gives White better practical results. A less common option is 5. d5. The engine gives White a slight edge, and the variation is rarely played.
