A Stonewall Dutch line where White meets 8...Qe8 with 9. Bg5, aiming to trade dark-squared bishops and press on Black's weak e5-square.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Chekhover Variation
The Chekhover Variation arises in the traditional Stonewall after 7. Nc3 c6 8. Qc2 Qe8. Black's queen move prepares ...Qh5 and play on the kingside. White replies 9. Bg5 and offers to exchange dark-squared bishops. That trade would remove the piece that best guards Black's dark squares and increase the pressure on e5, the lasting hole in the Stonewall structure. Meanwhile the queen on c2 supports a later e4 break.
