Anglo-Dutch Variation, Ferenc Gambit

The Ferenc Gambit is a sideline of the Anglo-Dutch in which White answers 1. c4 f5 2. Nc3 Nf6 with 3. e4, striking at Black's f-pawn immediately. The e4-pawn is attacked by the f5-pawn and the knight on f6 but defended only by the knight on c3. White therefore offers it for quick development and open lines against Black's weakened kingside. It resembles the Hickmann Gambit, 2. e4, with the moves 2. Nc3 Nf6 inserted.
