Train it in TheoriaAbout the Drill Variation
The Drill Variation arises after 1. c4 e5 2. g3 h5. Black answers White's intended kingside fianchetto with an immediate thrust of the h-pawn, aiming for ...h4 to strike at the g3 pawn and open the h-file before White castles. The plan spends time on a flank move while development lags, and it is likely premature. It is an offbeat sideline of the King's English, covered in John Watson's book on unusual openings.
