About the Hungarian Attack

The Hungarian Attack departs from the double-fianchetto Taimanov position of the Reversed Closed Sicilian by playing 5. Rb1 instead of the customary 5. d3. The rook leaves the long diagonal of Black's g7 bishop and supports b4 and b5, which gain queenside space and harass the c6 knight. White keeps the center flexible while expanding on the wing. The recorded reply 5...Nh6 steers the game back toward Taimanov Variation structures.
