Wing Gambit

The Wing Gambit, also called the Queen's Wing Gambit, meets the Symmetrical Variation with 2. b4. The b-pawn is offered to draw Black's c-pawn away from the center, clearing the way for d4 and a queenside fianchetto. After the usual 2...cxb4, White chooses between 3. d4, 3. Bb2 and 3. a3. Most masters consider it unsound, the engine gives Black a slight edge, and it is uncommon at high level.
