About the Spielmann Variation

The Spielmann Variation of the Alekhine-Chatard Attack is 6...O-O. Black ignores the g5-bishop and castles kingside even though White's h-pawn has already advanced and the e5-pawn cramps the defending pieces. The usual reply is 7. Qg4, bringing the queen toward g7, after which White scores heavily. 7. Bd3 is the next choice and gives more even results. The engine rates the position as a clear advantage for White.
