Train it in TheoriaAbout the Hoffmann Gambit
The Hoffmann Gambit is a rarely seen C00 sideline of the French Defense. Instead of defending, advancing or exchanging the e4-pawn, White plays 3. Qe2, and Black answers with 3...e5, striking back in the center. With 4. f4 exf4 White gives up a pawn, in the manner of the King's Gambit, to half-open the f-file while keeping pawns on d4 and e4. The queen on e2 eyes the half-open e-file, and Black's extra pawn on f4 stands doubled in front of the f7-pawn.
