A Winawer Advance line in which White develops the king's bishop to d3 at move 7, a rarer alternative to 7. Qg4 aimed at Black's kingside.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the with Bd3
With 7. Bd3, White develops the king's bishop before committing the queen or the king's knight. The bishop aims at h7, which a knight on f6 can no longer defend once the pawn stands on e5. The move is a less common alternative to 7. Qg4, 7. Nf3 and 7. a4. Black's main replies are 7...Nbc6, 7...Qa5, which pressures the weak c3 and a3 pawns, and 7...Qc7. The engine rates the position as roughly balanced, and practical results are close to even.
