The Canal Attack is a rarely seen try in the Exchange Winawer. White answers 5...Ne7 with 6. Qh5, bringing the queen to the kingside early to eye h7 and the d5-pawn along the fifth rank. Black most often develops with 6...Nbc6. The engine also rates 6...g6, which gains a tempo on the queen, and 6...Be6. It gives White a slight edge, though Black has scored well in the small sample of online games.
