Sharp C15 Winawer line in which White takes on g7 and drops the queen back to h6, inviting Black to grab d4 and harass the queen along the g-file.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Main Line
The Main Line arises once White's queen has taken on g7 and retreated to h6. Material is level, and Black's kingside pawns are broken, but the g-file is open for the rook. The principal reply is 7...Qxd4, which restores a pawn lead. White then plays 8. O-O-O to set up a discovered attack on the d-file, while Black chases the queen with ...Rg6 or ...Rg4. Quieter tries such as 7...Rg6 and 7...Nc6 prioritize development. The line is rare and has little theory.
