An offbeat Winawer sideline in which White meets 4...Ne7 by retreating the knight from c3 to b1, abandoning e4 and confronting the b4 bishop.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Schwarz's Line
Schwarz's Line arises after 4...Ne7, a quieter alternative to the critical 4...dxe4 in the Fingerslip Variation, with 5. Nb1. White undevelops the knight. This clears the d2–b4 diagonal, so the bishops on d2 and b4 now face each other, and it frees the c-pawn for c2-c3. The cost is time, and e4 is left without a defender against ...dxe4. The line has seen little theoretical attention.
