Train it in TheoriaAbout the Kondratiyev Variation
The Kondratiyev Variation comes from the Winawer's 4. Bd3 line. Here Black plays 4...c5 instead of the simpler 4...dxe4. After 5. exd5 Qxd5 the black queen is centralized early, pressing on d4 and g2. White replies 6. Bd2, which unpins the c3-knight so that ...Bxc3 can be answered with the bishop rather than a pawn. The center opens, leaving half-open d- and e-files and tension between the c5- and d4-pawns.
