Train it in TheoriaAbout the Yugoslav Variation
The Yugoslav Variation is a branch of the Smyslov line (7...Bg4) of the Russian Variation, arising after 8. Be3 Nfd7 9. Qb3 c5. The knight retreat clears the long diagonal for the g7-bishop and makes room for an immediate ...c5, which hits d4 instead of supporting the center passively. With the c- and d-files half-open, Black seeks to break up White's d4-e4 pawn duo through direct piece pressure, and the play tends to become concrete.
