About the Devin Gambit

The Devin Gambit, 3. g4, offers White's g-pawn to unsettle Black's development. If Black accepts with 3...Nxg4, White uses the time to play e4, setting up a broad pawn center and opening lines for the pieces. The idea resembles the Bronstein Gambit, 2. g4. Though rarely seen at high level, it was played in classical chess by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov against Andrey Esipenko at the 2022 Tata Steel Masters.
