Medusa Gambit

The Medusa Gambit is an offbeat response to 2. c4 in the Indian Defense. With 2...g5 Black puts a pawn en prise to the c1-bishop and weakens the kingside, while doing nothing for the center or for development, and reference sources regard it as unsound. Engines give White a clear advantage, and White scores heavily in practice. The most popular reply is 3. Nc3, although accepting with 3. Bxg5 has brought White even better results.
