An Indian Defense line in which Black meets 3. d5 with 3...b5, grabbing queenside space before White has committed the c-pawn to c4.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Pseudo-Benko
The Pseudo-Benko arises from the Spielmann-Indian when Black answers 3. d5 with 3...b5, using the absence of a white pawn on c4 to gain queenside space without giving up material. The most common reply, 4. c4, reaches the Benko Gambit Declined, and 4...e6 then gives the Blumenfeld Gambit. Other tries are 4. a4 and 4. Bg5, against which 4...Qb6 often guards the knight. Black aims for queenside play, and engines give White a slight edge.
