About the Schnepper Gambit

The Schnepper Gambit arises from the Knights Variation after 2...b6, the Pseudo-Queen's Indian, when White chooses the modest 3. c3 instead of c4. Black answers with 3...e5, a pawn thrust in the spirit of the Budapest Gambit. The e5-pawn stands unprotected and can be captured by both the d4-pawn and the f3-knight, so Black is offering material to challenge the center and speed up piece play. It is a rarely seen sideline.
