A sharp Evans Gambit Declined line in which White answers the Hirschbach counterattack with 7. Bxf7+ and 8. Qh5, keeping two extra pawns.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Vasquez Variation
The Vasquez Variation arises from the Hirschbach Variation, 6...Qg5, when White chooses 7. Bxf7+, the strongest reply, and after 7...Ke7 continues 8. Qh5, offering to trade queens. White is two pawns ahead and the black king has lost the right to castle. Black's counterplay depends on the queen's attacks on the knight on e5 and the g2-pawn, so the play remains forcing and tactical.
