An Evans Gambit line in which Black meets 6. O-O and 7. d4 with the modest 7...Bd7, holding the e5-point and the extra pawn against White's center.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Sanders-Alapin Variation
The Sanders-Alapin Variation arises from the Slow Variation, 6. O-O, when Black answers 6...d6 7. d4 with 7...Bd7. Rather than exchanging on d4, Black keeps the e5-pawn in place and finishes developing quietly, staying a pawn ahead. White has a broad d4/e4 center, the half-open b-file and quick development as compensation, and plays for pressure before Black completes castling.
