White, a pawn down and with the bishop attacked on h4, answers 8...g5 with 9. f4 instead of retreating, aiming to open the f-file toward the black king. The most common reply is 9...gxh4, while 9...gxf4 fares very badly in practice. The engine rates the position roughly balanced and prefers 9...d5, yet White scores heavily in online games.
