Train it in TheoriaAbout the Berger Variation
The Berger Variation departs from the immediate 11. Nce4 of the main Max Lange line. White first drives the queen with 11. g4 Qg6 and only then plays 12. Nce4 Bb6 13. f4, using kingside pawns to gain space and threaten f5 against the queen. Black replies 13...O-O-O, taking the king off the open e-file. Black stays a pawn ahead, while White relies on the f6-pawn, the centralized knights and the attack for compensation.
