Train it in TheoriaAbout the Yankovich Variation
The Yankovich Variation arises in the Kieseritzky line of the Polerio Defense after 6. d3 h6 7. Nf3 e4 8. Qe2 Nxc4 9. dxc4 Bc5 10. Nfd2, and Wikibooks lists it as the Morphy Variation. The queen's pin on e4 holds only while Black's king is on e8. White therefore moves the knight before ...O-O renews the threat of ...exf3. From d2 the knight eyes the e4-pawn. White keeps an extra pawn, although the c-pawns are doubled.
