Carrera Gambit

The Carrera Gambit, 3. Qh5, stops the check on h4 by guarding that square with the queen. Its main practical hope is a careless reply. After 3...g6, 4. Qe5+ forks the king and the h8-rook. Otherwise the early queen is a target, and 3...Nf6, the most frequent answer, gains a tempo against it. Engines give Black a clear advantage, Black scores heavily in practice, and the line is rarely played.
