A Muzio Gambit sideline in which White, after 7. Nc3 and the loss of the c4-bishop, continues 9. Nd5; analysis considers it unsound for White.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Baldwin Gambit
The Baldwin Gambit arises from the Bello Gambit, 7. Nc3, rather than the 7. e5 of the main Double Muzio. After 7...Qd4+ 8. Kh1 Qxc4, White has given up both the knight and the c4-bishop. The move 9. Nd5 sends the remaining knight toward c7 and f6 while the queen bears down on f4 and f7. Analysis judges the attack insufficient: after 9...d6, Black stays two pieces ahead, and White's compensation falls short.
