Train it in TheoriaAbout the Cozio Variation
The Cozio Variation is a branch of the Salvio Defense, 5...Qe7, within the Kieseritzky Gambit. The queen hits the e5-knight down the e-file. After 6. d4 Black answers 6...f5, which guards the g4-pawn and challenges e4. The price is doubled f-pawns and a loosened kingside. 7. Bc4 then aims the bishop at the light squares around Black's king. Black stays a pawn ahead, and White plays on the half-open e- and f-files.
