The Euwe Attack comes from the Classical Variation after 4. c3 Bg4. White exchanges with 5. fxe5 dxe5 and then plays 6. Qa4+. Moving the queen off the d1–h5 diagonal removes the pin on the f3-knight with tempo. The check along the a4–e8 diagonal also obliges Black to spend a move blocking it. The exchange on e5 leaves White a half-open f-file and Black a half-open d-file, with level material.
