A speculative countergambit in the Classical King's Gambit Declined, in which Black answers 3. Nf3 by offering the g-pawn with 3...g5.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Senechaud Countergambit
The Senechaud Countergambit is a branch of the Classical Variation of the King's Gambit Declined (ECO C30) in which Black meets 3. Nf3 with 3...g5 rather than the usual 3...d6. The g-pawn can be taken by both the f4-pawn and the knight. Black offers it to deflect White's f-pawn from its pressure on e5 and to open lines on the kingside, which makes the play sharp and speculative.
