Panno Variation line of the King's Indian Fianchetto in which White keeps the d4-pawn and meets Black's ...b5 advance with h3, Be3 and Nd2.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Korchnoi Line
The Korchnoi Line is a branch of the Panno Variation in which White plays neither 8. e4 nor 8. d5. Instead it continues 8. h3 Rb8 9. Be3 b5 10. Nd2. The pawn stays on d4, and h3 denies the black knight the g4-square, from which it could hit the bishop on e3. With 10. Nd2 the knight covers c4 against the ...b5 thrust. It also opens the long diagonal for the g2-bishop, which then bears on the knight on c6.
