About the Sokolov's Line

Sokolov's Line is the branch of the Bayonet Attack in which White answers 9...Nh5 with 10. Re1 rather than Yepishin's 10. Qc2. The rook on the e-file adds support to e4 before Black's ...f5 arrives. Black most often strikes with 10...f5 at once. The main alternative is 10...Nf4, which eyes the bishop on e2, while 10...a5, slowing the queenside advance, is less common. Engines rate White slightly better, and White scores well in practice.
