About the The Goblin

The Goblin arises when White answers 3...Nf6 in the Dresden Opening with 4. Nxe5, taking the e5-pawn instead of defending e4. White wins a pawn and half-opens the e-file, but the knight on e5 is unprotected and stands directly in front of Black's c6-knight. Black can recapture with the knight at once, so the line is little more than a trap or surprise and has no serious theoretical standing.
