About the La Bourdonnais Gambit

The La Bourdonnais Gambit arises when White meets the early queen sortie 2...Qf6 and 3...Qg6, which eyes g2 and e4, by castling and leaving the e4-pawn en prise. Accepting with 4...Qxe4 is the most frequent reply but scores poorly. The queen becomes a target on the e-file: 5. Nxe5 Qxe5 6. Re1 or 5. d4 exd4 6. Re1 wins it, and 5. Bxf7+ is also strong. The quieter 4...d6 is sounder, though the engine still gives White a clear advantage.
