Train it in TheoriaAbout the Philidor Gambit
The King's Pawn Game: Philidor Gambit arises when Black, after 1. e4 e5 2. d4 d6 3. dxe5, declines to recapture and plays 3...Bd7, giving up a pawn. The idea is to avoid 3...dxe5 4. Qxd8+ Kxd8, which leaves Black without the right to castle. White most often continues 4. exd6. Engines rate White clearly better, though online results are close to even. It is unrelated to the Philidor Gambit of the King's Gambit.
