A dubious Modern Defense gambit in which Black answers 2. d4 with 2...f5, hitting e4 at the cost of a badly weakened kingside; White scores heavily.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Fianchetto Gambit
The Fianchetto Gambit replaces the usual 2...Bg7 with 2...f5, striking at e4 before the bishop is developed. The flaw is that the g6-pawn cannot recapture on f5: after 3. exf5 gxf5 4. Qh5 is mate, so Black usually continues 3...d5 4. Bd3 with a loosened king position. 3. e5 and 3. Nc3 are also common. Engines give White a large advantage, and White wins most games in practice. The position can also arise from the Staunton Gambit move order 1. d4 f5 2. e4 g6.
