About the Belyavsky Gambit

The Belyavsky Gambit arises from the Noa Variation, 4...d5, after 5. cxd5 Qxd5 6. Nf3 Qf5. On f5 the black queen confronts its counterpart along the b1–h7 diagonal. When White sidesteps with 7. Qd1, having now spent two moves with the queen, Black answers with 7...e5. The pawn is hit by both the d4-pawn and the f3-knight, and Black gives it up to open lines while White's kingside pieces are still undeveloped.
