About the Simagin Variation

The Simagin Variation arises from the Reshevsky Variation of the Nimzo-Indian after 5. Ne2 d5 6. a3. Black answers the challenge to the bishop with 6...Bd6, keeping it rather than exchanging on c3 or retreating to e7. On d6, though, the bishop is exposed to 7. c5, by far the most frequent reply, which gains queenside space with tempo. 7. Ng3 and 7. cxd5 are the main alternatives. The line is seldom played, and the engine rates it as balanced.
