About the Maróczy Variation

The Maróczy Variation is a branch of the Classical Attack reached after 6...Be7 7. O-O Nc6 8. Re1 Bg4 9. c3 f5 10. c4 Bh4. Black pins the f3-knight and reinforces the e4 outpost with ...f5. The bishop then moves to h4, where it joins the knight in pressing on f2. White's 10. c4 strikes at d5, aiming to open lines while Black's king remains in the center on the open e-file.
